James 3:1-18

Earlier, I wrote an entry about the power of the subconscious mind and how it links to the power of prayer. How desire is prayer. Wednesday night's sermon at church related to that. Our pastor preached on the third chapter of James. Pastor said that it could be summed up thusly: Be careful in your speech. Why is controlling our tongues so important? Think about this: When God created the universe, how did things come into existence? He spoke the universe into existence. He said, "Let there be light," and there was light. He created man in His image, so what does that tell you about our oral creative powers? When we speak, we can create life or death.

**Whatever you claim mentally, your subconscious mind will accept and bring
forth into your experience. Hence, the importance of selecting thoughts,
ideas, and premises that bless, heal, inspire, and fill your soul with
joy.

**In themselves, the suggestions of others have no power over you. When you
accept them, then your subconscious works to bring it into existence.
Remember, you have the capacity to choose. Choose life! Choose love! Choose
health!

I never fully realized the power of speech and thought. When we speak, we can create life or death. I've internalized all these negative images of self, thought of myself as a failure, and brought it into existence. Now, the challenge I face is countering it all with positive self images. I need to reprogram my inner dialogue. It's hard, but I am worth it. My girls are worth it. And, I need to do it. If I don't believe in me, have confidence in me, no one will.

Matthew 25

Pastor gave a sermon recently about the twenty-fifth chapter of Matthew. He summed up the chapter as being about our actions. Many will profess to be Christian, but their actions are most un-Christ-like. We, as Christians, should do unto the least of us as we would do unto Jesus. Then he will answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, neither have you done it to Me. Matthew 25:45 RV The notes in my Recovery Version New Testament say: Those who obey the gospel and treat the suffering believers well will be blessed and reckoned as righteous and will inherit the kingdom (verse 34); but those who do not will be cursed (verse 41) and will perish for eternity. As in one of the entries in the Upper Room said, "...doing any compassionate thing for anyone is the same as doing it for Christ."

The power of prayer

Before I get to my latest post...Dearest Heavenly Father, I thank you for your saving grace and unconditional love. I thank you for all the blessings-past, present, and future-that you have bestowed upon me. I thank you for your forgiveness; for I know that I am not without sin. Let my every action praise you. Amen.

I haven't posted in quite some time-too long. I am not sure what I want to do with this space, but I know I am not going to do the Bridget Jones's Diary-esque fictional type blog I had originally thought I would.

While I decide what I want to do with this blog, here are notes I took while reading a part of The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy.

Desire is prayer.
"...shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which
he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith." Mark
11:23

The law of your mind is the law of belief. Change the cause, you change the effect.

"Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there
be any praise, thing on these things." Phil. 4:8
1) Look within for the answer to your heart's desire.
2) Tap into, release powers of the subconscious mind.
3)Subconscious mind has answers to all problems.
4) Subconscious mind can heal.
5) Every thought is a cause, every condition an effect.
6) Convey what you desire, your subconscious will respond accordingly.
7) Give your subconscious the right orders.
8) Don't negate yourself. Affirm!
9) The law of life: the law of belief
10) Change your thoughts, change your destiny.

**Whatever you claim mentally, your subconscious mind will accept and bring forth into your experience. Hence, the importance of selecting thoughts, ideas, and premises that bless, heal, inspire, and fill your soul with joy.

**In themselves, the suggestions of others have no power over you. When you accept them, then your subconscious works to bring it into existence. Remember, you have the capacity to choose. Choose life! Choose love! Choose health!

I didn't get very far into the book, did I? So, how to apply that short bit to our daily prayer ritual? How to mesh it all into our incessant prayer? Every situation we are faced with, we need to decide whether we are going to prove God's omnipotence or our own frailty. When we can walk in confidence with consistency and stability, knowing that there is nothing too big for God, our mindset changes. Instead of whining and complaining about the little things, we start to think how we can use the minor grievances and aggravating situations to be an example of Christ.
